Mourning Light
This mini had the potential to be great. It is a very convenient size. I don’t mind not having a cd drives, etc because I bought it for the portability. But a computer without a mouse or a left/right click is almost impossible to use. I could forgive HP the bad touch pad because mistakes happen, but their lack of responsiveness is unforgivable. I had the same mistake with them about 15 years ago, and thought I’d give them another chance. I won’t make that mistake again. The touchpad began acting up on this machine about 90 days after I got it. It was orgianally so intermittent that I couldn’t tell what it was – I thought the system was just freezing up. However, I’ve now discovered that when the touchpad freezes, I can tap on the right side of it. It’s clearly a hardware problem. Try calling HP though and you’ll talk to a tech in India who can’t understand you. I’ve called three times. All three times, the person on the other end of the line could not understand me, and I had to have them repeat most things twice. I don’t speak poor English and I am used to a lot of accents. I was asked, during this last call for example, six different times during the conversation WHY I was calling. I asked her on the 5th and 6th time didn’t she remember just asking me that and getting the answer that the touchpad quits working? I tried saying it different ways. I tried talking slower.
To top off a bad situation that they initally kept telling me was something else, they then told me I had to pay for shipping to return the item for repair. What?? I’ve gotten a few weeks of use out of this, and I have to pay for it? I paid good dollars only to have to spend hours of frustration on the phone with someone in India, and I have to pay for it?
Never again. Don’t buy this product.
