It does greatly reduce the noise, which might sound awesome, but it also makes a BIG difference as to the percentage of notes hit. With the drum silencers on, I missed a very significant amount of notes on many songs that I have 5 starred numerous times on Expert difficulty. It might sound like a good idea to hit them harder, but even this doesnt gaurentee a registered hit.
