I figured that this would be an affordable alternative to buying the new drum kit for Rock Band 2, but I was dead wrong. It does greatly reduce the noise, which might sound awesome, but it also makes a BIG difference as to the percentage of notes hit. With the drum silencers on, I missed a very significant amount of notes on many songs that I have 5 starred numerous times on Expert difficulty. It might sound like a good idea to hit them harder, but even this doesnt gaurentee a registered hit. And for songs like Long Time or Everlong, hitting the drums that hard with that kind of precision is just not possible.

I read the other reviews and thought that I could deal with it, but this is inexcusable.
If you want quieter drums, spring for the new drum kit. These are not worth the money.

Twenty dollars right out the window. They silence the drums somewhat, but you have to hit harder to get the hits to register so that's kind of a wash. Plus, lots of hits, even the hard ones, don't register, so I quickly got frustrated. On medium, songs I can normally get 100% on were nowhere close and I missed tons of white notes and activations of star power. I can't imagine how this would impact hard/expert drummers.

If you have to hit notes harder which is not possible to accurately do!It is probably a way to make money of a flaw in old drums which makes an illusion of solving the problem when you will probably get the new drums anyway

Got what I paid for. Installed by taking the stock plastic rims off first.
